SunnaTan Client FAQ

Waxing/ Shaving/ Pedi’s/ Mani’s/ Hair/ Makeup/ Lash Extensions

Waxing and shaving should be done the day before they tan, not the same day. (If they arrive freshly waxed or shaved, makes sure you tone the skin prior to tanning them). Both of these hair removal methods are a form of exfoliation. Waxing provides a deeper exfoliation and therefore cannot and should not be performed after the tan. It will literally remove the entire tan. Your clients can shave, but we suggest waiting at least a day, and using a fresh new razor along with a non-chemical shaving lotion or cream, (our SunnaTan Coconut Oil works fantastic for shaving!). We also recommend our tanning extenders if your clients plan on shaving every day.

Always suggest that your clients schedule their SunnaTan AFTER their manicure/pedicure or other esthetic appointments. We recommend a dry pedicure or manicure prior to having their tan. If clients have not had the opportunity to schedule these beforehand, advise them to go the next day after their tan has had a chance to set.

They can apply makeup after their tan, however we suggest waiting as long as possible, at least 2 hours. Keep in mind that they’ll want to avoid washing their face while the tan is developing (min 12 hours). Also remind them that their skin will darken and they may want to use makeup that’s a shade darker than usual. If they must apply makeup the same day as their SunnaTan is applied, powder is preferred to liquid. SunnaTan will not affect eyelash extensions, however some eyelashes cannot get wet for 24 hours, so be careful when applying the tan to the facial area.

SunnaTan will not stain or colour hair, however it’s recommended that lighter haired clients use a hair net to protect their hair.
